Solitary star,
This world is taking off, half-mad,
Without a handlebar

Amidst a no man»s land
Hummingbirds of happiness
Fluttered out of hand

Walking down a rainbow»s edge,
Too silent to be heard,
Sent to us by gracious angels,
A greatly needed word
Smothered by feeling
Spent for no one»s sake
Happiness, discredited, is
Weeping at the stake

Words and leaves are falling jast to
Color soggy ground
Happiness, so hesitant is
Begging for a crown,
Wanting not to trouble
Comes and goes in haste
Outwardly — so honorable,
Inwardly — abased
